Intercoat AP Adhesion Barrier Gel for abdominal and pelvic surgeries (also sold under the brand name Oxiplex/AP®) provides a temporary, protective separation of tissues adjacent to the site of the surgery during the body’s natural healing process, reducing adhesion formation.

Preserve surgical excellence – Improve patient outcomes

Product Overview

Intercoat AP is intended for use as an adjunct to abdominal and pelvic surgery for reducing the incidence, extent, and severity of postoperative adhesions at the surgical site.

Intercoat AP gel is supplied sterile, ready to use with two 20mL syringes and an applicator designed specifically for laparoscopic use.

Improved Outcomes

In multiple studies, patients treated with Intercoat AP Adhesion Barrier Gel had superior American Fertility Society (AFS) adnexal scores compared to controls 1,2. This protection can also help preserve normal tissue interaction and reduce access-related complications during any subsequent abdominal surgery.

Proven Safety and Efficacy

Our patented dual-polymer formulation combines two biocompatible synthetic polymers proven safe and effective over decades of worldwide use. Intercoat AP gel is absorbable, and contains no pharmaceutical agents or materials of human, animal, or bacterial origin.

Ease of Use

Intercoat AP gel is provided sterile, ready to use, and requires no mixing or special handling or storage conditions. The prepackaged laparoscopic applicator is designed to apply a single, consistent layer of gel. The clear absorbable gel maintains operative site visibility.

Patient Satisfaction

Reducing postoperative pain and adhesiogenic complications can lead to improved patient satisfaction, minimizing potential risks in future operations and patient complaints.

Patients treated with Intercoat gel had over a 42% improvement in AFS scores at second look when compared to those that were not treated with Intercoat AP. Those in the control group experienced an 80% increase in adhesions with surgery alone, while those in the Intercoat AP treated group experienced a 24% decrease in American Fertility Society (AFS) scores.1

Stability

Intercoat AP gel’s unique viscosity is flowable yet remains where applied with no change in volume that could adversely affect nearby tissues.
